Efforts Further the Sexual and Reproductive Rights of Prostitutes

This afternoon, the Human Rights Council continued dealing with the issue of sexual and reproductive rights with the focus on prostitution. In a succinct resolution paper put forth by the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the council is presented with a broad range of encouragements, requests and invitations, ranging from rehabilitation of exploited prostitutes to accessible abortion facilities.

The resolution appears to be received constructively, as three Southeast Asian member states have already passed amendments to the resolution, with a slight legislative focus. Calling for strengthened laws against sexual crimes and human trafficking, we see a productive push towards resolving the issue and a strengthened resolution.
